Editorial Policy

Editorial Policy

StoicQuotesHub aims to be an accurate, trustworthy source on Stoic philosophy. This page explains how we create, check, and maintain our content.

1. Quote verification

  • We trace quotes to the original work (for example, Meditations 5.1 or Seneca, Letter 13) wherever possible.
  • We cite the translation we use when the wording depends on it, since different translators phrase Stoic texts differently.
  • We do not publish quotes we cannot reasonably verify without labeling them as “attributed” or “disputed origin.”
  • Widely shared internet quotes with no traceable source are either excluded or clearly flagged as misattributed.

2. Original content

All explanations, commentary, and guides are written by our team. We do not copy articles from other websites. Quotes from ancient authors are in the public domain in their original languages; modern translations may be protected, so we quote them briefly, cite the translator, and encourage readers to buy the full book.

3. Accuracy and expertise

Content is written by people with real study of Stoic texts. We do not present interpretations as the only correct reading; where scholars disagree, we say so.

4. Independence

Our editorial decisions are not influenced by advertisers or affiliate partners. See our Advertising and Affiliate Disclosure.

5. AI and tools

[Choose the true option:]

  • Option A: We do not publish content generated by AI without human research, review, and fact-checking.
  • Option B: We may use AI-assisted tools for research or editing, but every article is reviewed, fact-checked, and approved by a human editor before publication.

6. Corrections and updates

If you find an error, email [EMAIL] with the page URL and the correction. We review reports promptly and correct verified errors, noting significant changes on the page. Older posts are reviewed regularly and show a “Last updated” date.

7. Health and wellbeing content

Stoicism is a philosophy, not therapy. Articles touching on anxiety, grief, or mental health are for general inspiration only and do not replace professional help.
